Medellin Collection is a four piece jazz fusion band hailing from Austin, Texas. Led by drummer/producer Brandon Medellin, their sound is a freewheeling synthesis of a wide array of influences ranging from jazz and prog, to latin pop and metal. Having first come together over a mutual love of bands/artists such as Magma, Luis Alberto Spinetta, Car Bomb, Mahavishnu Orchestra, and DJ Harrison, the music deals in complex time shifts, Brazilian rhythms, sounds and textures evocative of 70s fusion acts like Hermeto Pascoal and Grupo Um, as well as incorporating heavy metal/djent styles into the overall sound.

"Pure Deliverance" is the band’s debut album. Recorded in the first half of 2021, the album features Brandon Medellin on drums, Patrick McNally on bass guitar, Ezra Rodriguez on guitar, and David Alvarez on keyboards. The basic tracks were recorded by Ian Salazar at his home in Austin, with later overdubs being added at the band’s residence over the rest of the year. The album was mixed by engineer/producer Taylor White, and mastered by Colin Girod at MasterTape Recording. The seven tracks contained on the album reflect the multidimensional nature of the group’s sound, as well as foreshadow the different avenues that the band will explore on later albums.
